1. Tell us a bit about yourself!
I have only been in the fitness industry since 2010, previous to that I worked in financial services. I run Keep fit with Kelly full time, we are currently offering 12 classes per week all within the community. I am married and have an 18 month old and a nine year old, so life is pretty busy for me but I love it!
2. What made you get into Dance/Fitness?
I decided to train as a fitness instructor as a second job, I loved going to classes and I thought it would be a great sideline for me to run a class or two in the evenings in addition to my daytime job. Just as I qualified in May 2010 I was made redundant from financial services and decided it was the universe telling me that I should maybe commit myself to fitness full time and so I did! My love has always been group exercise, I always enjoyed going to other peoples classes and so that was the natural path I followed
3. If you were not a Dance/Fitness Instructor, what would you have been?
I suppose if I hadn’t been made redundant I would probably be a bank manager now! I also always quite fancied being a teacher but at 18 I wanted to earn money and so never pursued going to university.
4. Can you give our readers your favourite top health/fitness tip?
My top health tip would be to not try and be everything to everyone, take time for yourself and don’t feel guilty, if your relaxation is running, going to a class or simply taking five minutes just to curl up with a book it is vital for your sanity and health that you do take time out. My top fitness tip is to enjoy what you do, find a form of exercise that you look forward to, there is so much to choose from now exercise should never be a chore.
5. Is there anything else you’d like to add?
The best thing that could have ever happened to me was being made redundant from my financial services job. I am fitter, healthier, happier and more fulfilled than I ever was before. I have freedom and flexibility with family life and I consider myself blessed to have found this career.
