Lisa Welham


lisa_welham1. Tell us a bit about yourself!

My name is Lisa Welham and I am a dance and fitness professional. For 13 years I have performed internationally as a Contemporary and Latin dancer. A few of my highlights: dancing in the opening Ceremony of London 2012 Olympics, a live Salsa performance on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and appearing in the ballroom scene in the movie Anna Karenina. My career took a second path in 2012 when I decided to do a level 3 PT qualification and since then the doors of fitness have opened up. I won my first Physique competition and am now a WBFF Pro, I am a master Tabata and FiSteps trainer, celebrity PT, fitness presenter (MIC:FIT) and fitness model. I am also creative director of Enuki Entertainment.

2. What made you get into Dance/Fitness?

Unfortunately I got injured while performing at Sadlers Wells in 2012. I tore my Rectus Femoris which took me out of dance for a good 6 months. In the meantime I studied at Premier Training to gain my Level 2 and 3 fitness and personal training qualifications which was the start of my fitness career. Looking back, my injury was a blessing in disguise.

3. If you were not a Dance/Fitness Instructor, what would you have been?

If I was not a dancer or fitness instructor I would have been a detective. I’ve always loved detective stories and could see myself under cover lol.

4. Can you give our readers your favourite top health/fitness tip?

My top fitness tip would be to find exercise that YOU enjoy and do it consistently. Too many people are put off with exercise because they haven’t found the right thing for them. Ask me to ride a bicycle and I’d last 2 minutes. Ask me to dance and I’ll be in the studio all day every day. It’s about enjoying what you do and doing it often. Get up and MOVE!!

5. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

I am now juggling a career in both Latin/Contemporary dance and everything fitness and loving every second of it! Give me a follow to keep up to date on my adventures and some tips on staying in shape.
