1. Tell us a bit about yourself!
I am Caroline Newman ..aka Caroline Dance Lady!
I live in beautiful Wiltshire with long-suffering Mr Dance Lady, mini Dance Boy and two Pig dogs (Guinea Pigs which think the are dogs!)!
I am passionate about Kids fitness and health . I have this lifestyle …(it’s not a job ) where I turn up at schools and make kids Dance around ..and from that they learn stuff !!
This term via Dance and Movement, Im am teaching the topics of Fireworks , Rama and Sita , The Vikings and 100 books to read before your 10 !. Everyday is different , everyday presents something new , challenging & interesting
2. What made you get into Dance/Fitness?
At school PE was the only thing I was good at. I was that annoying child that loved cross-country , hockey and sports days. PE was the time in school that I excelled, so I knew that I would always do something within leisure, fitness and health. In some ways I am really lucky that I always knew that.
My sister has an executive job dealing with over 600 employees , she works in central Sydney and regularly deals with tribunals and employment issues. I’ve always thought she was so brainy and gifted, a few years ago she told me she was always been jealous of me !
She said that I knew what I wanted to do, where as she just followed a path that she didn’t particularly choose! She now is in the system , the rat race!
For me the Fitness industry isn’t like that , I get to work with the most funniest, creative, challenging, infuriating and loveable people …KIDS!
Often when I am in schools, I can instantly identify with ‘that kid’, that child that fidgets, that child that can’t stand still when they hear music, that child that finds is difficult to learn in a traditional environment, but excels on the field or in the gymnasium. That’s why!
3. If you were not a Dance/Fitness Instructor, what would you have been?
A farmer’s wife!
I loves outdoors lifestyle, when I win the lottery, I will buy Cornwall ! I also have a large holding full of Horses, rare breeds etc, and I love driving 4×4 !!
4. Can you give our readers your favourite top health/fitness tip?
Even if it’s just some simple stretches, or relaxation exercises. Simply moving the body can affect the physical, physiological way you feel …that always amazes me!
5. Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Via your blog Mel, I would like to encourage and inspire your readers, whether they are fellow fitness educators, people who take part in fitness sessions, or thinking about it.
Do it Do it Do it !!
Especially if you have children! I firmly believe that if children see adults , whether that be their parents , teachers, friends, celebrities, role models,whoever, exercising and taking care of their health will just become the norm!
